Plastic Free Eastbourne works across the community to inspire positive environmental action and make sustainable living easier for everyone. We collaborate with schools, youth groups, local organisations, and businesses to deliver talks, workshops, and hands-on activities that raise awareness about plastic pollution and practical solutions.
From supporting community events to guiding businesses on reducing waste, we bring people together, share knowledge, and empower Eastbourne to protect its coastline and environment.

The Eco Fair and Spring Water Festival are annual community celebrations organised by Plastic Free Eastbourne to promote environmental action and showcase sustainable living. Held on Eastbourne’s stunning Western Lawns, these events bring together local groups, eco-focused businesses, families, and volunteers for a day of learning, activities, refill initiatives, and ocean-friendly fun. They highlight our town’s natural spring water heritage, inspire people to reduce plastic waste, and celebrate the collective steps we’re taking toward a cleaner, greener Eastbourne.
Every year, the 2nd weekend in May.
Plastic Free Eastbourne’s Big Beach Clean is one of our landmark community events, bringing volunteers of all ages together to tackle litter across long stretches of our coastline. These larger clean-ups take place throughout the year and make a powerful impact – removing thousands of pieces of plastic and waste that threaten wildlife and spoil our beaches. With a fun, social atmosphere and plenty of teamwork, our Big Beach Cleans show what Eastbourne can achieve when the community comes together for the environment.
Come see us on the 2nd Sunday of every Month.
We visit each location on a monthly cycle.

Plastic Free Eastbourne’s Big Paddle Out is a powerful, community-led protest highlighting the impact of sewage pollution along our coastline. Each year, swimmers, paddleboarders, surfers, and supporters take to the water to call for cleaner seas and stronger action from water companies and regulators. It’s a peaceful but impactful demonstration that unites residents, raises awareness, and sends a clear message: Eastbourne deserves safe, healthy waters. By taking part, you become part of a bold movement demanding better for our ocean, our wildlife, and our community.
Small actions add up; together we can turn the tide on plastic pollution.
Plastic Free Eastbourne organises regular litter picks with local communities, businesses, and volunteer groups to keep our streets, parks, and seafront clean. These events bring people together, build local pride, and prevent harmful waste from reaching our beaches and marine life. By partnering with shops, cafés, schools, and neighbourhood groups, we create shared responsibility for cleaner public spaces and inspire lasting environmental habits. Every litter pick makes a visible difference – and everyone is welcome to join in.
Come book your litter pick and support PFE.
Plastic Free Eastbourne’s Mass Dip Morning is a fun, community-driven event that brings together residents, businesses, and visitors to celebrate our coastline while raising awareness about plastic pollution. This year, over 200 people took part, plunging into the sea together in a show of solidarity for cleaner waters. The event fosters a sense of community, highlights the importance of protecting our beaches, and encourages everyone to take positive environmental action.
Join us next year and be part of this exciting, impactful tradition.
Plastic Free Eastbourne’s Adopt the Beach Scheme invites local residents, families, schools, and businesses to take guardianship of a stretch of Eastbourne’s beautiful coastline. By adopting a beach, groups commit to regular clean-ups, monitoring litter, and helping protect wildlife in one of the UK’s most iconic seaside towns. It builds pride, strengthens community connections, and ensures our shores stay clean and cared for all year round. This Eastbourne-led initiative empowers everyone to play a real part in safeguarding our coastal environment.
Adopt a Beach, Protect Our Coast, be a Guardian of Our Shore.
